Thanks to a tip by the Salem High School staff, police officers located the alleged vehicle involved in a hit and run accident in the vicinity of Houston Street early Friday morning.

City Hall’s council chamber was a lively place during the city council’s monthly meeting on September 10. Mayor David Bower and the council updated those in attendance on some of the major projects Salem city departments are currently working on, while also beginning to look ahead to what challenges may await the city in 2013.

As November approaches and the presidential campaigns reach new heights of euphemism and overblown rhetoric, we begin to wonder if either of the party’s candidates can rise to the occasion and become the leader we need. We find ourselves asking if our country is even capable of producing another Washington, Lincoln or Roosevelt. And, if it is, will we recognize them as such or will it take the lens of history to reveal the true scope of their genius?

SHS girls golf team makes it to regional PDF Print E-mail

The Salem High School girls’ finished third at Sectionals in Bedford on Saturday, Sept. 15, and competed at Regionals in Evansville last Saturday. Team scores from sectional were Madison 355, Bedford 363 and Salem 379. Salem’s individual scorers were Brittney Walker 92, Amber Kilburn 92,Chelsea Lamb 93, Emily Motsinger 102 and Mariah Deaton 106. At regional the Lady Lions shot 392 at regionals and were led by Walker with an 85.
