The Salem Rotary Club is raising funds to assist with disaster relief in the Philippines as a result of Super Typhoon Haiyan.  The storm destroyed entire coastal towns with record winds and tsunami like waves as much as 16 feet in height.  The city of Tacloban was nearly destroyed.  Over a half a million people are estimated to have lost their homes.

WSLM kicks off Purdue-IU Food Challenge PDF Print E-mail

WSLM is kicking off its 4th annual IU – Purdue Food Challenge to benefit the Washington County Food Bank.

To promote the food bank as well as the rivalry between Hoosier and Boilermaker fans, WSLM created this event to not only raise awareness and food for the local charity, but pits local fans against each other to see which team can collect the most food.

SHS graduate receives scholarship from Association of Counties and SRI, Inc. PDF Print E-mail

Salem High School graduate Trent Pennington is the recipient of a $500 scholarship presented by the Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) and sponsored by SRI, Inc. The AIC presented the scholarship to Pennington in Washington County on Oct. 15.
