Folks gathered last Saturday in Pekin park to look back on the events that took place in the afternoon of March 2, 2012.

A year after the deadly tornado that ripped through the Pekin community, some have finished rebuilding and others still have a way to go. Pictured above are those who attended preparing for the balloon release.

Pekin tornado remembrance ceremony Saturday PDF Print E-mail

In remembrance of the March 2, 2012 tornados that devestated the communities of Pekin and Daisy Hill there will be a tree dedication and balloon release ceremony at Pekin Pekin Park.
Several speakers are lined up and all who were affected are invited are invited to please come and share your story.
There will be refreshments available after the service.
All are invited to come out and show your support for this community.
Due to wet and cold weather the refreshments will be served following the ceremonies at Pekin United Methodist Church.
The tree will be there, but may have to be planted at a later date.
