The second annual “Seasonings” for SOAR!, a chili cook-off  to benefit Washington County SOAR!, will be held Saturday, March 5 at the American Legion Bingo Hall from 4-8 pm.
Chili aficionados will enjoy the many varieties of chili offered by the teams of chili chefs, along with sandwiches, drinks, homemade desserts, and all the fixings.

Eagle Scout project benefits The Depot in Salem PDF Print E-mail

Viewing the model train operation at The Depot railroad museum in Salem will be easier for young children, thanks to the efforts of a Boy Scout who was working to achieve his Eagle rank.
Chris Schroder, 15, has now completed requirements for Eagle Scout. Three days before Christmas he appeared before the Eagle District Board of Review and was awarded the Eagle rank.
“I have finally completed my journey and I am now an Eagle Scout,” Schroder said.

No updates on baby’s death PDF Print E-mail

Washington County Prosecutor Dustin Houchin said there is no news on the five-month old infant from Salem who died in the early morning hours of Dec. 31.
Houchin said they are still waiting for resilts from the toxicology results.
He said he doesn’t expect any updates until those results are in.

John D. Fultz became the new President of the Washington County Board of Commissioners at their first meeting of the new year, January 5, which Commissioner Dave Brown was made Vice-Chairman.
Fultz replaced Lana Sullivan for District 2 Commissioner.

Board seeks help with past due bills at Delaney PDF Print E-mail

Doug Hoskins and Lester Sowder, two members of the Delaney Park Board addressed the County Commissioners with their concerns of late bills that they had came across totaling over $20,000 and Sowder believes there are more to come.
Jackson County REMC is outstanding for $11,044.48, Jackson Jennings Co-op is $4,251.57 and East Washington Rural Water is $3,260.39 and is currently over drawn at PNC by by $174.00.
