After their first scheduled home game was cancelled due to inclement weather, the Dragons football team were ready last Friday night to introduce the home standing Creek fans to the new Hawkins era of football at Silver Creek. Last week the Dragons opened the season by traveling to Salem. Silver Creek picked up the program’s first win over the Lions.

Braves slip past Pirates at Lucas Oil Stadium Showcase
“Both teams competed to the last minute today. These are two of the best teams in the conference and we showed the state how good the Mid Southern Conference really is,” stated Charlestown head coach Darin Ward after the Pirates fell to Brownstown in the second game of the Lucas Oil Stadium Showcase on Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis.
The Mid Southern Conference match up between the Class 3A No. 5 Brownstown Braves and the Class 3A No. 16 Charlestown Pirates was held as part of the Lucas Oil Stadium Showcase, featuring four high school football games held throughout the day on Saturday, August 30. The home of the Indianapolis Colts filled with the blue of Pirate Nation as many fans traveled the little over 100 miles to downtown Indianapolis to cheer on their beloved Pirates.

In his first game as head coach of Silver Creek, helped lead the Dragons to a first – beating Salem.
SC had lost to the Lions in four previous attempts, but overcame a halftime deficit to get a 21-14 win.
