The excitement is filling the air for Christmas in Charlestown 2015. Officials are expecting lots of families from the local community and surrounding communities to visit Charlestown “The Christmas City” this holiday season.
On Saturday, December 5, at 6 p.m., the City of Charlestown will be hosting its 4th annual Christmas Parade and they want your family, business, and/or organization to be a part of this event. All cars, trucks, floats, farm equipment, or anything you want to decorate with whimsical lights, music, and/or animation will be a great addition to the Parade. The parade will begin at the Charlestown High School parking lot located at 1 Pirate Place, Charlestown, proceed down Park Street to Market Street toward the City Square. You will need to be at CHS no later than 5:30 p.m. on Parade Day for line up.

Clark traffic stop yields drugs on their way to Scott County PDF Print E-mail

Monday afternoon, February 8, 2016, trooper Mark LaMaster from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg stopped a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu traveling on Interstate 65 south at the 5.2 Mile Marker in Clark County. He made the stop for a traffic infraction and during the stop Trooper LaMaster could tell something was not right, as the driver and passenger were acting suspicious.
Trooper Lamaster called for Indiana State Police K-9 Handler, Nathan Abbott, with his dog “Teague”, for assistance. “Teague” did a sniff of the perimeter of the Chevrolet Malibu and gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. As troopers continued the investigation, they ask the passenger, Kevin C. Lucas, 40, of 5th Street in Scottsburg, if they had anything illegal and he replied “Meth”, “Heroin” and “Marijuana”. Narcotics were located in the vehicle as well as scales, nearly five thousand dollars in U. S. Currency and several other items used to deal illegal narcotics.
