Walking into Kings Coffee Shop in Sellersburg you are immediately greeted by a smile and a friendly hello. The atmosphere in the new business is hospitable and even homey.
“I have always liked coffee and love this type of atmosphere. I just love the atmosphere. Coffee is real popular, my kids are here (in Sellersburg). I knew it was a big risk but Sellersburg doesn’t have anything here like this,” stated Kings Coffee Shop owner John King after being asked why a coffee shop.

Pirates scalp Braves in MSC rivalry contest, 41-3 PDF Print E-mail

Last Friday night there was standing room only at Dutch Reis Field. The fans squeezed into the stands and around the fence to cheer on their home standing Pirates in a early season Mid Southern Conference rival contest featuring two top 10 teams in Class 3A. Heading into the contest the visiting Braves of Brownstown were sitting at No. 6 while Charlestown was ranked at No. 9.  Recent history has proven that the winner of the early season match up went on to claim at least a share of the conference title. Both teams were coming off impressive opening night victories as Charlestown took the 67-14 win over the Class 4A Madison Cubs on Friday night, August 17 and the Braves enjoyed the 39-6 victory over Class 23 Sectional foe Mitchell.

Dragons drop season opener to visiting Springs Valley, 46-29 PDF Print E-mail

There was a not too familiar sight last Friday night at Silver Creek High School. The stands at the track were filled with fans proudly wearing their orange and blue, which is not uncommon during the spring sports season, but this is August and the fall sports season. The fans piled into the stands were ready to cheer on their home standing Dragons during their second home football game in three years. Fans arrived early enjoying tailgating and all things fun for football season. The Dragons showed a lot of heart and determination giving the crowd something to cheer about but Silver Creek fell to the visiting Blackhawks of Springs Valley, 46-29.
