Common Sense, the national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids and families thrive in a world of digital media and technology, has recognized New Washington Middle/High School as a Common Sense School.
New Washington Middle/High School has demonstrated its commitment to taking a whole-community approach to preparing its students to use the immense power of digital media to explore, create, connect, and learn, while limiting the perils that exist in the online realm, such as plagiarism, loss of privacy, and cyberbullying. The recognition acknowledges our schools commitment creating a culture of digital learning and citizenship.

Sellersburg man arrested in Scott County after pursuit with ISP Trooper PDF Print E-mail

Trooper Rob Caudill from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg was traveling north while patrolling near the Scott/Clark County line on Interstate 65 on January 4 at approximately 8:30 p.m. When he neared the 23 Mile Marker he observed a red Mazda Miata in front of him drive off the roadway into the grass median and spin out of control. The vehicle then returned to the north bound lanes of travel and trooper Caudill activated his vehicle’s emergency lights and attempted to stop the driver for unsafe lane movement. The driver refused to stop and increased his speed attempting to allude trooper Caudill.

KFC opens near River Ridge with standing room only crowd PDF Print E-mail

Motorists traveling down Highway 62 have been watching new construction lining the road from Charlestown to Jeffersonville. With each new start of a building local residents begin to try to figure out what new business will be opening in the area.  The newest edition became apparent to motorists when the famous red and white stripes developed on the building. Residents soon learned the new restaurant would be a KFC and the wait began. Earlier this month, the long wait paid off as the restaurant opened to a standing room only crowd.

Charlestown AD elected to IHSAA Board PDF Print E-mail

Charlestown High School Athletic Director Chad Gilbert was recently elected to the IHSAA Board of Directors Southern District Urban Seat.  As part of the Executive Committee, Gilbert will take the place of Paul Neidig who was selected to become an Assistant Commissioner of the IHSAA earlier this year.
