    The Clark County Drug Treatment Court Program will host its eleventh graduation on Thursday, December 17 at 3:30 p.m.
    Rev. Charles Harrison will be the keynote speaker.  
    The Clark Superior Court No. 2 operates one of only 25 adult drug courts in the state, certified by the Indiana Supreme Court. The court will honor seven graduates for their rehabilitative efforts over the last three years.
    Since 2002, the program has provided services to 124 participants without a taxpayer funded budget.
    The Drug Court program graduation will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Clark Superior Court No. 2.   
    A reception will follow at 4:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

    Santa Claus will take a well?deserved break from preparing his annual trip around the world when he stops by the Charlestown Arts and Enrichment Center on Saturday, December 12, to have breakfast with Charlestown’s good girls and boys.
    Breakfast with Santa is presented by the Charlestown Parks and Recreation Department and is free to the first 200 guests. Breakfast will include a meal of pancakes, sausage and eggs.
    Families are invited to stay after breakfast to put together their own
gingerbread houses. Materials will be provided.
    Breakfast with Santa will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. The Charlestown Arts and Enrichment Center is located at 999 Water Street in Charlestown.

Lady Pirate Amanda Miller breaks second free throw record PDF Print E-mail

    The Charlestown Lady Pirates hosted the Lady Panthers of Corydon (0?2) last Friday night in the 2009?10 Mid?Southern Conference season opener for both teams.  
    The Lady Pirates were victorious 44?37 improving their early season record at 1?1.  
    Senior guard Amanda Miller finished with 26 points, shooting perfect from the field and 16-for-16 from the charity stripe.  
    The perfect evening at the line gave Miller a second school free throw record for consecutive free throws in one game.
    Miller breaks the 1979 record previously held by Marva Craig for 11-out-of-11 made in one game.
    Miller then broke the record she set against Corydon when the Lady Pirates traveled to Silver Creek on Saturday. She went a perfect 20-20 from the free throw line during the Lady Pirates 62-45 victory over the Lady Dragons. Miller had a game-high 27 points in the contest.
    Miller broke her first school free throw record last season when she made 21 consecutive free throws for the season category record.  
    She completed the night being named the Tumbletown Gym Lady Pirate Player of the game by Charlestown Pirate Pride Sports Broadcasting.

    The Pirate basketball team traveled to New Washington to face their arch?rivals, the Mustangs, in the 2009?10 season opener.  
    Led by junior Anthony Lloyd, who finished the contest with 20 points, the Pirates (1?0) handed the Mustangs (0?1) a 58?45 loss.  
    The Pirates were also led in scoring by junior Joey Wilson, who finished with 10 points respectively.
    Lloyd was named the Tumbletown Gym Player of the Game by Charlestown Pirate Pride Sports Broadcasting.

    The Charlestown “Christmas Tour of Homes” will be held on Saturday, December 12. The hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m.
    Come and enjoy an evening of touring some of Charlestown’s most beautifully decorated homes. There will be six homes on the tour this year. They are all beautifully decorated. Don’t miss the Concrete Lady’s spectacular home- it is truly one of a kind.
    There will be refreshments of holiday cookies and hot drinks served at the Arts & Enrichment, Center located at 999 Water Street in Charlestown, following your tour.
    You can also experience the joy of the holiday season with an old fashioned horse and carriage ride. This will put a nice nostalgic end to your night, so don’t miss out on what has grown to be one of the favorite forms of entertainment during the holiday season.
    The Charlestown Beautification Committee sponsors this event. Tickets for the home tour will be $10 and they can be purchased at the A&E Center from 4 to 7 p.m. on December 12, the day of the Christmas Home Tour.
