2013 High-Visibility Enforcement Campaign to begin Friday

As motorists take to the roads this Memorial Day holiday, Clark County Traffic Safety Partnership police are urging everyone to buckle up. The current campaign begins Friday, May 17, with law enforcement officials out in full force, taking part in the 2013 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization and cracking down on motorists who are not belted.

Mock Trial for Scouts draws record attendance PDF Print E-mail

For the fifth consecutive year the Clark Circuit Court No. 1 hosted a staged crime scene and mock trial for area boy and girl scouts. This year’s program brought the highest level of attendance ever, according to sponsoring Judge Dan Moore. It also featured a new presentation of a trained canine dog to help investigate a staged “crime” that occurred and an important reminder from a detective about crimes against children. Over 100 scouts, parents and supervisors attended this year’s program.

Charlestown Postal workers will help Stamp Out Hunger Saturday PDF Print E-mail

The Charlestown Post Office will participate in the National Letter Carriers Association’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. The food drive will be held this Saturday, May 11. The workers are encouraging the local community to participate in the food drive by bringing non-perishable items to the post office or by leaving a donation at your mailbox. Citizens wishing to participate who live on rural routes are asked to put their donation inside their mailboxes while citizens who resident in town are asked to put their donations next to the mailbox. If you would like to drop off your donation you may drop it off through next week during regular post office hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

The Miss Clark County 4-H Fair Queen Pageant is now accepting applications. Any Clark County young woman ages 16-20 is eligible to participate. She must be an active member of at least one worthwhile organization in the community and must be sponsored by a Clark County business and/or organization.
