Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for individuals to participate in the Second annual Golf for Kids’ Sake golf scramble to be held Saturday, June 6th at Westwood Golf Course in Scottsburg.  This is an 18-hole event.  The cost is $40 per person, or $160 per team and includes green fees, golf cart and lunch.  Registration and lunch begins at 12 noon, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.  Prizes will be given for first place, closest to the pin and longest drive. Individuals who wish to participate are encouraged to call the Big Brothers Big Sisters office at 752-6651. Organizers of this year’s Golf For Kids’ Sake event are Jim Morgan, Lee Anne Hahn, Vanessa Eldridge, Bryan Wallace, Sheilah Williams and Syd Whitlock.
Golf For Kid Sake raises funds for the local Scott County Big Brothers Big Sisters agency.  This money helps the agency recruit, screen, train, match and support all volunteer/child matches throughout the year. Because of the organization’s efforts, over 100 children have a caring, volunteer mentor to spend time with on a regular basis.  Recent research has proven that one-to-one mentoring has a measurable impact on the lives of the children and youth.
For more information about Big Brothers Big Sisters or Golf For Kids Sake, please call the Scott County office at 752-6651.

Residents of Scott County and in surrounding counties in Southern Indiana who want to apply for an Indiana Firearms Permit can now start that process by using their home computers.
Scott County law enforcement agencies will now accept gun permit applications via computer which gun owners are urged to begin by visiting the website at www.in.gov/isp before they visit a police department. At that website, applicants must follow the link under the Firearms Licensing tab.
The process is easy. Each applicant can now begin his application from home by using an Internet-connected computer. To continue the application process, the applicant then visits his local police department or sheriff's department, depending on his legal address. Local and county police agencies have access to the licensing process and are now able to complete the process. They will access the application on-line and obtain fingerprints, fees and all signatures required. Additionally, law enforcement agencies can provide feedback on the status of applications or existing permits through the new system.
