Officers with the Scott County Sheriff''s Department were busy investigating vehicular accidents over a recent 11-day stretch.

The series of seven accidents injured seven people and killed a semi-truck driver from Indianapolis.

Injury mishaps began on the afternoon of August 30 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 South and State Road 356.

Nina Keown funeral will be held at Lexington church this Saturday PDF Print E-mail

Though her cause of death is not yet known, the funeral for Nina Rae Keown, the 26-year-old mother who was missing for nearly three weeks in August, will be conducted at the Lexington Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 18, at 11 a.m.

Big celebration marking Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Department’s 100 years of service set Saturday PDF Print E-mail

Scottsburg volunteer firemen are planning a big party on Saturday afternoon, September 11, and everyone is invited to come.
The Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating its 100th year of service to Scottsburg and Scott County with a shindig offering music, refreshments, children’s activities and a display of firefighting equipment, trophies, photos and memorabilia collected during the department’s first 100 years.
Activities will begin at 1 p.m. that day at the department’s oldest firehouse, located at the corner of Cherry and South Railroad Streets in Scottsburg.

As of Monday, August 30, human remains found in a heavily wooded area in northern Clark County on Friday morning, August 27, are still being evaluated by the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville, Ky.
“We’re 99% sure that we’ve found Nina Rae Keown. We’re waiting for the experts to confirm it,” stated Sheriff John Lizenby during an interview he gave on Monday afternoon.

Official detour will take lots of traffic out of Scottsburg while SR56 is closed PDF Print E-mail

Officials of the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) have selected an official detour while the railroad crossing on State Road 56 (McClain Avenue) is closed in Scottsburg.
And the amount of time the crossing will be closed has been lengthened by a couple of days.
