In a short meeting of less than 30 minutes the Floyd County Commissioners approved several projects for paving and bridge work at their August 2 meeting.

A would-be tattoo artist is facing misdemeanor charges in Scott Superior Court of tattooing a minor and body piercing a minor.  Scottsburg Patrolman Shawn Hurt was told by a teenage girl’s mother that she had dropped her daughter off for summer school classes on the morning of July 13. She was to be picked up at noon that day by a court-appointed counselor.

Officers with the Scottsburg Police Department and Sheriff’s Department investigated three injury traffic accidents which occurred within 14 hours of each other on Friday and Saturday, August 5 and 6.

The Scottsburg Warrior Football team will be hitting the field for the start of its third season starting Friday, August 19, starting at 7 p.m. as they travel to do battle with the Salem Lions.

This also starts the third season for Scottsburg High School Football Head Coach Kyle Mullins after starting the Warriors off in 2014.

The Warriors were 4-4 for the season last year in non-IHSAA and will be eligible for post-season in 2017 as they will play varsity level in the Mid-Southern Conference as a Class 4-A program.

The past two years has taught the team and Coach Mullins a lot with their schedule, and with this year's schedule about to take place. Scottsburg seems to be on the right track for a successful football program.

Scottsburg's schedule is as follows, all home games will be played at Scottsburg Middle School:

August 12 – Springs Valley (Scrimmage) (away) 7 p.m.

August 19 – Salem (away) 7 p.m.

August 22 – Salem (home) 6 p.m.

August 26 – Rock Creek Academy – (away) 7 p.m.

August 29 – Paoli (away) 6 p.m.

September 2 – Southside Homeschool (Home) 7:30 p.m.

September 3 – Providence (away) 6 p.m.

September 9 – Crawford County (home) 7 p.m.

September 12 – South Decatur – (home) 6 p.m.

September 19 – Brownstown Central (Boys C Game) (home) 6 p.m.

September 23 – Oldenburg Academy (home) 7 p.m

September 26 – West Washington (home) 6 p.m.

September 30 – Manuel (away) 7 p.m.

October 7 – Milan (home) 7 p.m.

October 14 – Silver Creek (home) 7 p.m.

October 17 – Silver Creek (away) 6 p.m.
