The November 8 General Election should be interesting in Scottsburg, thanks to a roster of both Democrat and Republican candidates who have been nominated to run for offices.
Mayor Bill Graham was readily renominated to keep the job he’s held since the 1980s, despite a good race by challenger Christopher Albertson. Graham captured 70% of the ballots cast on May 3 for a vote total of 297 to Albertson’s 30% or 130 votes. Other Republican candidates ran unopposed. Tim Hoard is now the Republican candidate for an At-Large seat on the City Council. Jim Fleenor will be running in Council District 2, and Bill Banta is the nominee for Council District 4.

The biggest race in the Democrat Primary Election in Austin this past Tuesday, May 3, was, of course, the battle between incumbent Douglas Campbell and challenger Brandon Glenn White.
In this race, Mayor Campbell won by a wide margin of 65% to 35%, getting 640 votes to White’s 347. The result, however, has been decidedly muddied, since White supporters filed a complaint of voter fraud against the Mayor and a city worker, Terry Danner, late in the day on Monday, May 2. (See related story.)
No one can forecast its conclusions or its effect on that race.
