An investigation of a recent domestic call resulted in the arrest of a Lexington area man on eight drug-related charges.
Daniel E. Richie, 31, Charlestown Road, was taken into custody by Chief Deputy Don Campbell on March 31 when Deputy Campbell went to a residence on East State Road 356 on a domestic situation or fight. As the officer pulled into the driveway of the residence, he said Richie sat down in the rear seat of a vehicle on the driver’s side. When he made contact with Richie, Chief Deputy Campbell related that he saw a handgun lying on the seat of the vehicle. Richie could not provide a valid firearm license for the weapon, the officer said, and was subsequently arrested.

Scott County Prevent Child Abuse Candlelight Vigil April 30 PDF Print E-mail

The community is cordially invited to the Annual Scott County Prevent Child Abuse Candlelight Vigil on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.. The Vigil will be held on the Scott County Court House Lawn near the Gazebo. Family and members from the community are requested to attend in honor and remembrance of the children who died from abuse or neglect in 2010, most often at the hands of a loved one. Candlelight Vigil Guest Speaker, Lori Johnson Barrett, will be speaking about Suicide Intervention and Prevention.

Trio suspected in house burglary arrested within hours of break-in PDF Print E-mail

Three men are now awaiting trial on multiple felony charges in connection with a house burglary that occurred April 7 in Lexington Township.
Deputy Rodney Rudder was dispatched to the burglarized home around 6 p.m. that Thursday to take the initial report. The homeowner said he had left his house around 6 a.m. and returned to find it burglarized.
Among items missing was a 50-inch television, a Panasonic camcorder, a Canon camera and a bowie knife.
Because the owner had surveillance cameras in several locations around his property, the officer was able to view film that helped him create a detailed description of a blue Chevy extended cab pickup truck used in the burglary. He was able to get a partial license plate number as well and a video of three young white males.
Descriptions of the men and their vehicle was given to other officers.

Officers investigate four personal injury accidents in five-day period PDF Print E-mail

Both county and Scottsburg law enforcement officers were busy during a five-day period investigating four accidents that left a total of seven people injured.
Sheriff’s deputies and officers with the Scottsburg City Police Department investigated a total of 11 accidents from April 3 through April 9.

Investigation on-going in wake of accident that killed Scottsburg woman PDF Print E-mail

Clark County officers are still awaiting the outcome of toxicology reports and other evidence in connection with a fatal accident that happened north of Henryville on Saturday, March 26, that killed a Scottsburg woman.
A funeral service was conducted this past week for Christine Jones, 76, the Scottsburg woman who died at the scene of a two-car collision on U.S. Highway 31 north of Henryville on Saturday evening, March 26.
