A couple of local basketball teams got the season started last night.

The following are results from those games:


Salem's Alex Davidson poured in 24 points and Sadie Soliday added 15 in a 53-46 win at Crawford County.

The Lady Lions (1-0) trailed at the end of the first quarter , 15-12, but used a 10-4, second quarter run to grab a slim lead at intermission.

The Lady Wolfpack again started the third quarter strong leading 31-26 heading into the final period.

Salem's offense came alive in the final eight minutes as they scored 27 points on their way to the win.

Salem's next game will be Tuesday, Nov. 18 at home against Southwestern.

Henryville romps

Henryville (1-0) allowed just two points in the second half as they routed Irvington Prep 71-6.

Eastern falls

The Eastern Lady Musketeers opened the season at Mitchell and suffered a 47-43 loss to the Lady Jackets.

Eastern will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Southwestern Hanvoer.

Join Dorothy, Toto, and all their friends as they journey to meet the great and powerful Wizard in this classical stage version of the film. Everyone will be sure to recognize their favorite songs, including Ding Dong The Witch is Dead, We’re off to See The Wizard, Follow the Yellow Brick Road, and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. This will truly be a community show, as we will feature a large number of local elementary students in the roles of the munchkins.

The Floyd Central Highlander Band and Emerald Guard earned a coveted bid this past weekend to perform at the Indiana State School Music Association Marching Band Finals this Saturday, November 8, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. This is the band’s sixth consecutive appearance at the Indiana State Marching Band Finals in Class B. Only 10 bands in each class earn the opportunity to perform at State.
