There will be a benefit and Silent Auction on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Navilleton Activity Center.
The event is to raise money for LADO (Latin America Discipleship & Outreach). The primary focus of LADO is building churches in South America.
The local connection is Julie Kiesler Zuluaga and her husband Edgar were the first couple sent out by LADO.
In an interview with this paper last year, Julie said the most important thing for anyone is to discover Jesus.
“We know what everybody needs -- no matter their situation, where they live in the world or their background, they need Jesus,” she said. “Whether it’s a country like the United States that supposedly has it all, or it’s a country like Colombia whose suffered violence from drug trafficking and has been hit so hard, we all need Jesus.
“We know that He is the answer for our every need and every day. Not only for our salvation and the forgiveness of sins, but also that daily help we need to experience peace and joy and understand our purpose. That’s what fuels us.”
The Zuluagas spent four years planting churches in Costa Rica and now have focused their attention on Colombia.
Doors for the fundraiser open at 5 p.m. and at that point bids will be taken on auction items,
The hot buffet dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The cost is $15 for adults and children 6-12 are $7.50. Children 5 and under eat free.
