The Harrison County Community Foundation has awarded $671,567 to various projects and agencies supporting Harrison County. The Grants Committee reviewed 49 grant applications from agencies requesting more than $2 million for a variety of projects. The successful spring grant applicants are:
The Community Foundation has awarded over $47,500,000 to support not-for-profit projects and scholarships since October 1997.  Total assets of the Foundation currently exceed $115 million thanks to donations from the community and continuing contributions from Horseshoe Southern Indiana.

Runners sought for Bearcat 2-miler PDF Print E-mail

Registration has begun for the first ever Georgetown Elementary PTA Bearcat 2-Miler Fun Run and Walk to be held Saturday, April 9 at 9 a.m.
The two mile close course consists of mostly flat surfaces with some rolling hills with the start and finish at Georgetown Elementary School.
All proceeds from the race will  benefit Georgetown PTA programs and initiatives.

Crash claims one life on SR 111 PDF Print E-mail

On March 8, 2011 at approximately 3:15 a.m., the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department received a call regarding a single vehicle crash in the 6800 block of SR 111 just north of the Horseshoe Casino.

One Southern Indiana is pleased to announce Cinda Baxter, the founder of the national 3/50 Project movement, will be the keynote speaker at a “Buy Local Southern Indiana” kickoff event on Thursday, March 10th at Kye’s II in Jeffersonville.  In addition to the keynote speech, the event will include registration, networking, hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar.  The reception will take place from 5:30 to 7:30, with Baxter taking to the podium promptly at 6:00 p.m.

Additional matinee added for Willy Wonka PDF Print E-mail

Floyd Central High School Theatre’s production of the musical  “Willy Wonka!,” based on the classic Gene Wilder film of the same name has proven so popular with audiences that an additional matinee has been added to this coming weekend’s scheduled performances.  The additional matinee will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12.  Other performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 11 and 12, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m.
