Floyd Central High School Theatre’s production of the musical  “Willy Wonka!,” based on the classic Gene Wilder film of the same name has proven so popular with audiences that an additional matinee has been added to this coming weekend’s scheduled performances.  The additional matinee will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12.  Other performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 11 and 12, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m.

Men’s Lenten Prayer Breakfast 2011 schedule for Lanesville area churches PDF Print E-mail

The Sixteenth Annual Lenten Men’s Prayer Breakfast will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville. Each event will conclude at 8:00 a.m. The men will be gathering to share spiritual focusing during Lent. There is no need for reservation; a free will offering will be accepted to donate to local needy causes. The men of each respective church will host the events. These series of breakfasts are for men and their son so that they may fellowship with other men seeking a closer relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Each program is planned by the host congregation with the intent to enlighten men as to the presence of God in the world around us. We especially invite any men who are not members of any of the participating churches to join us at one or all of the breakfasts. If you wish further information, please call 952-2800. The schedule meeting sites is as follows: St. Mary’s Catholic Church, March 12: St. John’s Lutheran Church, March 19: St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, March 26: Lanesville United Methodist Church, April 2: Harrison Hills Baptist Church, April 9: New Life Christian Church, April 16.

YMCA ‘Strong Kids’ campaign changing lives PDF Print E-mail

To single mom Ashley Gibson, the YMCA of Southern Indiana’s annual Strong Kids campaign made the Y available to her and her children, which has made her a better mom and prompted her to likewise donate to the special fund.
To Beth Crenshaw, the campaign funds helped her develop better physical and emotional health amid the Y’s environment that was supportive, encouraging, and tough. “It is my second family,” she explained. And she’s already left her wheelchair to tackle climbing the rock wall.
