The Borden Braves were hosted by the Clarksville Generals Friday night. Even though the Braves are not in the Mid Southern Conference they have 5 wins to a loss against their teams. This would have been an opportunity to go 6 and 1 but the Braves would come up two points short 39 to 40.
Friday night the Borden Braves hosted the Orleans Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are a likely team for Borden to meet in the Sectional if they have success. Friday night the Braves had little success as Orleans controlled the game and walked away with a win 42 to 30. The game was a defensive struggle as Orleans and Borden played a tough man to man defense. Borden jumped out in front with a couple baskets but Orleans answered with a pair of 3’s. Borden had good ball handling but could not find the opening for a drive or a shot. In the second quarter Borden did gain a couple points to trail 21 to 19 at the half. Borden’s coach Nash said, “We just didn’t have enough patients in the first half, we were too quick to shoot.” Both teams went to a zone defense after the half and the third quarter was something you seldom see with any team. Borden could not get a ball in the basket. They played the entire quarter without scoring a point. Nash, “They went to a box and one chasing Caleb Hart. It was no surprise but we were not ready for it.” Orleans scored ten points, all from inside and the free throw line to take a 12 point lead. Although the Braves recovered in the fourth to play the Bulldogs even they couldn’t make a dent in the deficit losing 42 to 30.
