Youth First of Washington County will be offering a free afterschool program to grades 5th – 8th at East Washington Middle School.  Afternoons ROCK will begin on Wednesday, November 9th and end on December 20th.  The program meets 18 times over 6 weeks.  This will be the second year Youth First has offered Afternoons ROCK at East Washington Middle School.  ROCKs is typically held 3 days a week.  For full calendar visit  Through Afternoons ROCK, youth will have a safe, positive and fun environment to gather in from 3pm to 5:30pm.

Cougars finish 6th at state cross country meet; Ashton Bosler 46th in girls’ race PDF Print E-mail

The North Harrison boys’ cross country team finished 6th at the IHSAA State Meet Saturday at the Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course near Terre Haute. The Cougars had a total of 192 points. The top five teams were Columbus North 77, Hamilton Southeastern 109, Carmel 152, Mishawaka 155, and Lawrence Central 179. The team was led by Johnnie Guy, who finished in 14th place (15:52.4), and Ashton Bosler finished in 46rh place (19:27.7) in the girls’ division, as a freshman competing in the state gathering for the first time.

The Floyd Central Highlanders had a chance to win the game with two seconds left in the game.
They had the ball and threw a pass towards the end zone, but the pass fell incomplete and Floyd fell to home standing Bedford-North Lawrence 36-32 in the semifinals of Class 5A Sectional 8 Friday night.
Floyd Central had started their last drive of the game with a little over a minute left, and an apparent 63 yard touchdown by Bramble was nullified by a blocking penalty.

The Seymour Lady Owls ended the tournament journey of the Floyd Central Lady Highlanders Saturday night with a come from behind five game victory in the finals of the Class 5A volleyball sectional finals at New Albany.

NH cross country headed to state finals PDF Print E-mail

This was an awesome weekend for the Cougar Harriers of North Harrison. A HUGE COUGAR CONGRATULATIONS goes out to Ashton Bosler and Natalie Hollensead and the North Harrison Cross Country Boy’s Team who made school history again this past Saturday by winning the school’s second consecutive Semi-State Championship! In the Girls’ Semi-State race, Ashton Bosler had another great performance and will advance to the State Championship Meet next Saturday. The top six teams and the first 15 overall individuals advance from each of the 4 Semi-States to the Indiana State Championship Meet in Terre Haute. In a field of Southern Indiana’s best 160 runners, Ashton ran an excellent race and finished in 7th place overall with her second best time of the season at 19:04. Natalie Hollensead also ran a great race and finished in 59th place overall and had a PR time of 20:52. Congratulations again to both Ashton and Natalie who represented NH so well this past weekend. Ashton will run in the 2nd race of the State Meet starting at 1:45 p.m. after the boys’ race at 1:00 p.m. Make plans to come out and support Ashton as she continues her quest to be one of the top runners in the State of Indiana.
