?    The Carnegie Center for Art and History in New Albany is pleased to announce a new exhibit, View/Review: Intaglios by Mary Lou Hess/Paintings by Carol Brenner Tobe, on display November 7 through December 27. The exhibition brings together the work of two artists whose lives and careers have taken parallel paths for years. Mary Lou Hess and Carol Brenner Tobe have lived and raised children in New Albany, observed changes in society, interacted with the region’s art community, and distilled all of this into their individual works of art. View/Review is sponsored by the Carnegie Center, Inc.

?Floyd Boys, North Harrison boys finish excellent seasons at state cross country meet PDF Print E-mail

?    Floyd Central and North Harrison’s boys’ cross country both finished better than their coaches expected at the IHSAA State Cross Country Meet Saturday at the Lavern Gibson Course near Terre Haute.
    The previous week, after having finished third at the Brown County semi state, Floyd Central coach Tim Korte said he was hoping for something like the 12th spot, as a team.
    “We were up further than I thought we’d be,” said Korte. The Highlanders finished in 10th place with 289 points, and North Harrison was in 19th place with 436 points, who outperformed local teams Perry Central (20th place, 453 points), and New Albany (22nd place, 499 points).

?Borden Historical Society Chili Supper PDF Print E-mail

?    The Borden Historical Society will host a Chili Supper on Saturday, November 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Borden Museum. Carry out will be available, and the cost is a donation.
    A preview copy of the Walnut Hill Cemetery Book will be available for viewing. First 100 pre-ordered and prepaid will be sold for $40. After printing the price will be $50. An order can be placed by calling Paul and Pat Coffman at (812) 923-5466 or Brian and Monica Everage at (812) 967-1387.

?    The temperatures had dropped significantly as rain had swept through the area Friday morning and into the afternoon, and the Pirate faithful, along with the visiting Cougar fan base, had bundled up with multiple layers trying to stay warm in the true football weather.
    The Cougars had traveled to Dutch Reis Field, affectionately known as The Boneyard, for the opening round of Sectional 23 play.

?Highlanders and Cougars both advance to state cross country meet PDF Print E-mail

?    North Harrison junior Tyler Byrne won the cross country semi state at Brown County State Park near Nashville Saturday. He had a low time of 15:50, and he helped his fellow Cougars to a 6th place team finish (188 points). Other state qualifying teams are Terre Haute North 49, Bloomington South 107, Floyd Central 131, New Albany 142, and Perry Central 178.
    For the first time since the early 1990’s, both the boys’ cross country teams from Floyd Central and North Harrison have advanced to the IHSAA State Finals in cross country, to be held in Terre Haute Saturday, Nov. 1.
    And it wasn’t just those two teams that advanced; four of the six teams advancing to the state meet are from the Crawford County Regional. The other two of the four, besides Floyd Central and North Harrison, are New Albany and Perry Central.
