The Floyd Central Dazzlers travelled to Orlando Jan. 30 to compete in the UDA National Dance Team Championships.

The Dazzlers placed 1st in the Large Varsity Pom Division, making this the 13th year in a row that they have been named National Champions. The team also placed 3rd in Hip Hop.

The Dazzlers presented their show to an enthusiastic crowd at Floyd Central on Thursday night before departing for Orlando. The Dazzlers are coached by Todd Sharp.

Floyd County Adult Literacy Connections (ALC) is seeking volunteers to be trained as literacy tutors. Tutors must be 21 or older, be Floyd County residents, have completed high school or the equivalent, be willing to attend 12 hours of free training, be available for 2 hours per week and be able to commit to service as a literacy tutor for one year.

The Borden Braves traveled to Austin to play the Eagles Friday night. The game was a battle down to the last minute before the Braves were able to create the separation in scoring to take the win 53 to 49.
