One June 25 more than two hundred outstanding student musicians gathered at the University of Louisville for five days of rehearsal and performances prior to departing to seven European countries for a 16-day tour.

The Charlestown Police Department is warning citizens of an I.R.S. related tax scam in which local residents have received threats of either a lawsuit and or arrest warrant if they do not provide the caller the information they requested.  The Charlestown Police Department has received recent information that local citizens are being targeted by either emails or direct phone calls requesting a person’s personal credit or debit card information.

The Charlestown Beautification Committee has been busy making the final preparations and plans for the 16th annual Founder’s Day Festival. This year the festival will celebrate the theme of All American Weekend. This year the festival will be held in a new location as the Family Activities Park (across from the Charlestown High School Football Field) will be the host location. The Founders Day All American Weekend is set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 23-25. Founder’s Day will feature live entertainment, arts and crafts booths, vendors, a parade and 5K run, just to name a few. The popular festival will conclude with a spectacular fireworks extravaganza on Saturday, June 25 beginning at 10 p.m.

Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 PM, five juveniles were reported missing while wading in a rain swollen Indian River Creek near Greenville, In. Some reports indicated the juveniles entered the creek around noon near 8536 Old Vincennes Road. The only indication they may have been in trouble was their bicycles and cell phones were left by the creek and the victims were nowhere to be found.
