This marks the fifth year that Carleigh Hofelich, daughter of Baptist Health Floyd cardiologist Chris Hofelich, DO, has collected shoes to give to kids in need. Hofelich is kicking off her annual fundraiser, “Carleigh’s Kicks for Kids,” to collect shoes for kids residing in Kentucky and Indiana but currently staying at the Our Lady of Peace facility in Louisville, Ky. She started the collection drive at the age of eight, when she decided she wanted shoes for her birthday to give to others, rather than a gift for herself. Since then, Carleigh has collected more than 1,000 shoes for young adults and kids alike.
