The Charlestown Police Department is warning citizens of an I.R.S. related tax scam in which local residents have received threats of either a lawsuit and or arrest warrant if they do not provide the caller the information they requested.  The Charlestown Police Department has received recent information that local citizens are being targeted by either emails or direct phone calls requesting a person’s personal credit or debit card information.

Founder’s Day celebrating All American Weekend at Family Activities Park PDF Print E-mail

The Charlestown Beautification Committee has been busy making the final preparations and plans for the 16th annual Founder’s Day Festival. This year the festival will celebrate the theme of All American Weekend. This year the festival will be held in a new location as the Family Activities Park (across from the Charlestown High School Football Field) will be the host location. The Founders Day All American Weekend is set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 23-25. Founder’s Day will feature live entertainment, arts and crafts booths, vendors, a parade and 5K run, just to name a few. The popular festival will conclude with a spectacular fireworks extravaganza on Saturday, June 25 beginning at 10 p.m.

Juveniles fine after water rescue PDF Print E-mail

Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 PM, five juveniles were reported missing while wading in a rain swollen Indian River Creek near Greenville, In. Some reports indicated the juveniles entered the creek around noon near 8536 Old Vincennes Road. The only indication they may have been in trouble was their bicycles and cell phones were left by the creek and the victims were nowhere to be found.

The State of Indiana is commemorating two of its founders, Patrick Shields and John K. Graham, both of whom are buried in Floyd County. On Wednesday, June 22 a ceremony for Patrick Shields will be held at the Fairview Cemetery (East 6th Street) in New Albany at 10:30AM.

FC presents special performances of 42nd Street PDF Print E-mail

The theatre students at Floyd Central are getting ready to hit the road with their mammoth production of the Broadway musical, 42ND STREET.  The students were invited to present the show at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln Nebraska the last week of June.  To prepare for the monumental task of taking such a large production on the road, they will present 42ND STREET two more times at Floyd Central for the local public.  Community members are invited to the performances on June 16 and 17 at 7:30 PM.
