The Floyd Central girls’ volleyball team continued their stellar season on Sept. 11 with a 3-0 25, 22, 25-18, 25-10 win at New Albany.
The Lady Highlanders followed the win over NAHS with a 3-0 win over Louisville Holy Cross, 25-14, 25-16, 25-20.

7th Annual Hope Music Festival Saturday PDF Print E-mail

With the fall festival season in full swing there is a local favorite coming to Ritter Park on Saturday, September 20th.  The Midtown Street Fair and the Hope Music Festival will take place on Saturday, September 20th beginning at 11:00 a.m.  The morning will begin with a 5k Color Dash with the Midtown Street Fair opening at 11:00 a.m. and live music starts at noon with the Hope Music Festival. 
The 5k Color Dash will be held in Sam Peden Community Park.  You can pick up your race packet at 8:30 a.m. and the race will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m.  All proceeds from the 5k Color Dash will benefit Family & Children’s Place.  For more information on the 5k Color Dash go to www.familyandchildrensplace.org/ and click on big bash color-dash.

Polite midwesterner that he is, Kyle Bramble was torn. He wanted to answer the question but he wasn’t sure it would be in his best interest to be totally forthcoming should someone from a Dartmouth opponent learn his “secret.”
Which knee was it that he blew out in last year’s Nov. 23 finale against Princeton?
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound junior tailback hesitated and thought about the question for a second before being let off the hook.

Play based on Starlight teen to be performed PDF Print E-mail

As the Providence High School Class of 1974 prepares for their 40th reunion, their class president will be remembered in a special way.  The premier southern Indiana performance of the play, “Why Did God Make Sparrows?” will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 6:30-7:30PM at the Providence High School Robinson Auditorium as part of the PHS ’74 class reunion activities. The play is based on the journal and stories written by senior class president C.J. Smith Jr. in the final year of his life. CJ was a member of the Starlight community, a 1974 graduate of Providence High School and a student at IU Southeast when he died of a terminal illness just before his 19th birthday.
