Lady Musketeers remain perfect with wins over Corydon and CC
After winning the Floyd Central Shootout to end 2011, the Eastern Lady Musketeers have continued their winning in the new year. They turned back Corydon xx-xx on Jan. 5 and followed that with a 72-47 win over visiting Crawford County last Saturday. Eastern used what they have all year to turn back the Lady Wolfpack – a relentless defense and a solid inside-out attack.
Two of Washington County’s most successful non-profits are joining forces. The merger between Youth First and the Washington County Family YMCA was announced Tuesday at the community learning center. Members of both group’s boards attended the meeting, as well as members of the Washington County Community Foundation board.
Former WW grad ‘Sparkle(s)’ in her attempt to be a fighter pilot
Anyone who remembers the movie “Top Gun” remembers the nicknames “Maverick” and “Goose.” In today’s Air Force pilots still have nicknames, but some of them have a feminine twist, like “Sparkle!?” “Sparkle” is the nickname given to 2007 West Washington graduate Brittney Sparks as she works her way through flight school.
Two men from Salem, Kenny Blankenbaker and Jimmy Apple, were recently recognized by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Blankenbaker was honored as a 2012 Men’s Center Circle Officials Award winner, along with Richard “Dick” Freeman and Robert “Bob” Spay, for his contribution as a high school basketball official.
