It has been a season of hires, fires and waiting games in the world of football coaches this year and another one can be added to the list as Salem High School Athletic Director Mo Moriarity was hired to be the Bloomington South Head Coach and assistant AD at their school board meeting Monday.

Moriarity stepped down from his position as head football coach at Salem in early November. At the time he said the job of AD and the loss of his dear friend Randy Johnson had taken some of the desire to coach away.

Stand-off with police leads to teen’s arrest PDF Print E-mail

A situation turned tense last Thursday when police had a stand-off with a local teen.
Washington County Sheriff Claude Combs said the situation ended with a scuffle, but no one was seriously injured.

Salem Mayor David Bower is not happy with the state’s design of the recently opened bypass, or truck route.
Bower said the road is very nice, but he doesn’t feel like there was as much thought put into the safety of the road as their needed to be.

The Salem boys’ basketball team is still in search of their first win after suffering their fourth consecutive loss to start the year.
The Lions fell to the visiting Jackets of Mitchell Friday 53-36.
