Eastern Athletic Director Scott Newcomb got news Tuesday that Head Football Coach John Dablow was resigning.

Dablow said he isn't sure what the future holds, but felt it was time to step away.

Newcomb speaks highly of the job Dablow did.

"John has worked hard in all areas of our program to improve the football situation," Newcomb said. "In terms of wins and loses it wasn’t what we wanted, but education-based athletics is about more than that. He helped players build good character and  become better students. He was always very organized and had things well planned out. His coaching staff spent many hours working and studying opponents in order to give our teams a chance for success."

Newcomb said once the school board accepts Dablow's resignation, the search for a new coach will begin.
