As school breaks for the summer and hot temperatures rise, you can take a cool dip in the water at Salem Myers pool.
The pool officially opened on Sunday, June 6 with a free swim day with more than 250 swimmers taking part and the first day for new pool manager, Tyler Huls. Huls has worked five years at the pool as a lifeguard and stated,” It was was to have people that I know to work with me. I have worked with many of these lifeguards previously and I look forward to this summer.”

Mill Creek Baptist Church to celebrate 188th PDF Print E-mail

Mill Creek Baptist Church will be celebrating 188 years this Sunday, June 27 with a pitch-in meal after the morning worship.

There will be special music and fellowship.

The morning worship begins at 10:45 a.m. with Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.

The church deacons are furnishing the meat.

Pastor Kyle Hall encourages former members to come out and fellowship with the church and enjoy the food and music.

Mill Creek Church is located on 4241 west state road 56 in Salem.

American Cancer Society’s signature event to unite the community in the fight against cancer is here!  The American Cancer Society and citizens in Washington County are rallying together to fight cancer by hosting Relay For Life. There is something for everyone at this year’s event which will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 11 and 12 at Salem Community School’s Paul A. Graves Athletic Field.

The biggest non-racing event of the season at Salem Speedway is set for Saturday night, June 5th, as the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League turns the focus from speed to power at the famed racing venue.

The Scott County Visitors Commission Hoosier Classic hits Salem’s pit road with an outstanding pulling line-up, including Super Farm Tractors, Super Stock Diesel Trucks, Hot Farm Tractors and 4x4 Pro Stock Trucks.

Two Salem High School students face charges for causing Salem Community Schools to go on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, May 11.
Seniors Blaine Humphrey and Kyle Hall will likely be charged with criminal mischief for what turned out to be a senior prank, according to Salem Police Chief Scott Ratts.
Humphrey and Hall allegedly let the air out of the front tire on each of the school corporation’s 26 buses.
