High school students looking for summer work experience
Do you know a high school student looking for a summer internship or an opportunity to do some job shadowing? If so, send HS students in the direction of Youth First. Youth First is proud to introduce the K.E.Y.S. Program, a summer leadership program designed to develop the employability of our young people. Based on conversations with local businesses and research about what other communities are doing to develop their pipeline of talent and address the “brain drain”, the Keep Encouraging Youth to Succeed (K.E.Y.S.) Program has been developed.
A season that started 0-4 for the West Washington turned when the Lady Senators won five games in a row. They continued to hit their stride with only the school’s second-ever PLAC championship in softball and then last Thursday, they continued their magical run with a sectional title.
Money and the lack of it, the topic of many county council discussions
With the downed economy many families are living paycheck to paycheck. The financial crunch, however, is not limited to households. Many governmental agencies are also feeling the pinch. The cause for the pinch can’t be pin-pointed to any one thing, but for the Washington County Council, the fiscal body, a number of things has contributed.
The Salem City Council met for their monthly public meeting on Monday, May 14. Their first order of business that evening was to hear from a handful of representatives of a few local organizations in Salem.
