On March 22, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce met at the Piper Flight Museum for their monthly meeting. Hank Jacobi started the proceedings by announcing that the board was again seeking a new treasurer.

Jason Cockerill updated those affected by the tornado about 2012 property taxes and how to handle those at a joint meeting for coordinating agencies Tuesday, March 13 at Eastern High School.
Cockerill said contrary to what some people are saying, the county assessors office has no agenda, but to assist those affected by the March 2 tornado.

This is where you will find him, center stage, surrounded by kids.  After nearly 40 years of acting, teaching, writing, and directing theater, he can’t imagine being anywhere else but he knows it is time to usher in the next season of his life.  Chris Bundy’s passion for teaching, theater, and pushing students to strive for excellence are what have taken an already very good theater program at Floyd Central High School to a whole new level of national as well as international recognition.  And as with any large amount of success, it comes at a cost of countless hours of hard work and dedication.

With plans to bolster the local economy, as well as highlight the talents of young adults, the Washington County HomeTown Competiveness (WCHTC) organization is seeking college interns for the 2012 summer.  Interns must be Washington County residents and are required to be a full-time college student enrolling in the 2012 fall semester.  The position will be up to 40 hours a week, with a pay range of $10 to $14 per hour depending on the applicants experience and qualifications. There will be some flexibility regarding the actual dates of employment for the internship, but the dates for employment must fall between May 15th and September 15th of 2012.

The annual Puppet Show and Easter Egg Hunt are colorful harbingers of spring as Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church invites the public to its popular and entertaining event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 31.
