The Class 3A Sectional 30 field at Salem in boys’ basketball would seem to be a three team race, if records among the sectional field mean anything.
Charlestown, Salem, and Corydon Central all have records of 4-1 among the field, although the overall records vary widely among the three, although not by much.

Chad B. Elliott was arrested Thursday on a warrant that stems from an incendent that happened on Jan. 4 when a rehabilitation center was robbed in Washington County.

Events at Salem-Washington County Senior Center

The following events are taking place at the Salem-Washington County Senior Center :
Wednesday, February 16   12:30 p.m. Dominoes.
Thursday, February 17: 12 p.m. Euchre; 1-3 p.m. Exercise at YMCA and 7 p.m. The Down Yonder Band.
Friday, February 18: 9 a.m. Bible study; noon, Rook; 12:30 p.m. Domino tourney, and 7 p.m.,  band
Saturday, February 19: 1-3 p.m. Exercise at the YMCA.
Monday, February 21: noon. Bingo.
Tuesday, February 22: sewing  at 9 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. Euchre and 1-3 p.m. Exercise at the YMCA.
The center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with older American’s lunch served Monday through Friday at 11:30 p.m.

A pinch of this and a pinch of that! It is time to pull out those favorite chili recipes and enter yours in the second annual Seasonings for SOAR! Chili cook-off.  The event will be held Saturday, March 5, at the American Legion Bingo Hall from 4-8pm.

Imagine a scenic valley tucked between two wooded hills, an ice and snow-covered creek running nearby, and steam billowing from the tall smokestack of a large, low barn.  The sap gathered from the nearby maple trees is being boiled down into thick, sticky, pure syrup, soon to be enjoyed by a family on their pancake breakfast.
