American Cancer Society’s signature event to unite the community in the fight against cancer is here!  The American Cancer Society and citizens in Washington County are rallying together to fight cancer by hosting Relay For Life. There is something for everyone at this year’s event which will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 11 and 12 at Salem Community School’s Paul A. Graves Athletic Field.

The biggest non-racing event of the season at Salem Speedway is set for Saturday night, June 5th, as the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League turns the focus from speed to power at the famed racing venue.

The Scott County Visitors Commission Hoosier Classic hits Salem’s pit road with an outstanding pulling line-up, including Super Farm Tractors, Super Stock Diesel Trucks, Hot Farm Tractors and 4x4 Pro Stock Trucks.

Two Salem High School students face charges for causing Salem Community Schools to go on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, May 11.
Seniors Blaine Humphrey and Kyle Hall will likely be charged with criminal mischief for what turned out to be a senior prank, according to Salem Police Chief Scott Ratts.
Humphrey and Hall allegedly let the air out of the front tire on each of the school corporation’s 26 buses.

A 25-year-old Salem man, Nathan Baker, died early Monday morning from an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound.
Salem Police Chief Scott Ratts said they were called to a residence on Water Street around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Bus Vandalism causes two-hour delay PDF Print E-mail

A call was reported around 6:15 a.m. regarding vandalism at the bus compound of Salem Community Schools.

 

The City Police along with the Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to find 26 buses at the compound had one flat tire each, as the investigation continued it was found that someone had taken the time to not damage anything as they entered the compound. The compound was locked at the time the report was made and there are no security cameras in that area.
