The Eastern High School basketball team lost five seniors from last year’s 21-3 team. Two members of that team are now playing college ball and most expected Head Coach Mike McBride and the Lady Musketeers to go through a rebuilding year.

A movement by educators in Indiana helped to make a change at the top level. Glenda Ritz was an underdog entering her race against Tony Bennet, who is the Superintendent of Public Instructions. Ritz overcame the odds and won by four percentage points, 52-48.

It took nearly two decades for West Washington’s football team to win another sectional title and much of the credit for this year’s success, according to Head Coach Phillip Bowsman, goes to the seniors on the team. He said six of those seniors have played since Bowsman got hired six years ago.

The Washington County Chamber of Commerce recently held their annual Chamber Dinner on Saturday night, November 3, 2012 at Southern Hills Church in Salem. The event is a chance for the Chamber of Commerce to thank the community for their support, as well as to honor specific people who have worked hard in support of the community over the past year.
