Council faces decision on hiring freeze PDF Print E-mail

When the Washington County Council met in December they voted to issue a hiring freeze on any position that would come open.
Now a little over a month out from making that decision, the council must decide if they want to replace Soil and Water Conservation District Manager Sandy Hortenberry.

First step in proposed jail funding PDF Print E-mail

The council approved a resolution from the Jail Expansion Committee that was basically the first step in getting the funding according to County Council Attorney Mark Clark.
The resolution included a petition that was signed by 95 tax payers in Washington County and also included the fact that there is a need for the project.

The Washington County Commissioners held their first meeting of the new year.
The major topic of discussion was the proposed jail expansion project.
Joseph Mrak with RQAW Corporation gave an update on the jail project.
Mrak was to meet with Washington County Sheriff Claude Combs to go over the plans and specifications.
