The Salem City Council held their final public meeting of the year on Monday, December 10, 2012. Mayor David Bower was pleased to report that a few of the city’s major construction projects have been making progress recently.

It has been a season of hires, fires and waiting games in the world of football coaches this year and another one can be added to the list as Salem High School Athletic Director Mo Moriarity was hired to be the Bloomington South Head Coach and assistant AD at their school board meeting Monday.
Moriarity stepped down from his position as head football coach at Salem in early November. At the time he said the job of AD and the loss of his dear friend Randy Johnson had taken some of the desire to coach away.
A situation turned tense last Thursday when police had a stand-off with a local teen. Washington County Sheriff Claude Combs said the situation ended with a scuffle, but no one was seriously injured.
