The annual barn-burner.... Austin Eagles take home 79-77 win during controversial county rivalry game November 23
by ASHLEY ELLIOTT and MEGAN SMITH High School Basketball Correspondents An estimated 3,000-plus fans were on hand for the annual Austin-Scottsburg boys’ basketball rivalry game on Wednesday night, November 23. In a game not soon to be forgotten, the night had all the elements of classic Indiana basketball, including screaming cheer blocks to a Scottsburg comeback from a 23-point deficit and near win – and just plain old rivalry fun at Meyer Gym in downtown Scottsburg.
L.I.F.E for Kids is a weight management program offered by St. Vincent Hospital. Jackie Kramer, the program coordinator, shared that the program is for youth 2 to 18 years old. The program consists of 15 individual sessions over the course of a year. The program is not a “boot camp” with a drill sergeant but rather a welcoming place where kids can come to learn about healthy eating and exercise habits.
Washington County duo leads Franklin in season-opening win
Former Salem High School standout Gunner Erwin scored 15 points, grabbed nine boards and blocked four shots and Eastern alum Clay Starrett added 14 points as the Franklin College team opened the season with a 79-70 win over Fontbonne. The Grizzlies fell behind 11-2 but went on a 21-4 run to take the lead, which grew to 42-35 at halftime.
