In the heart of the many fun activities, food, music and fellowship of Founder’s Day is the Arts and Crafts on The Square. Visitors can enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of a variety of fine arts and crafts and purchase hand-crafted items of jewelry, glass, metal, wood, fibers, ceramics, furniture, candles and fine soaps here. Friday, June 26, from the 4 p.m. Opening Ceremony until 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. artisans will be displaying their work.

The Charlestown Lady Pirate Softball team has had success with the non-conference Louisville programs it has played this year. After dropping their season opener versus Holy Cross, Charlestown has since defeated Louisville Eastern, Fern Creek and now Pleasure Ridge Park (PRP) twice.

The Charlestown Lady Pirates moved to 3-1 and 1-0 in the Mid Southern Conference Monday evening (April 13) after defeating visiting rival Silver Creek 7-4 in 6 1/2 innings.

Former Pirate basketball coach dies at 75 PDF Print E-mail
Charlestown High School Pirates Coach Tom Hamilton died Wednesday in Shelbyville, KY. He headed the boys’ varsity basketball program at Charlestown from 1968 to 1970, where he directed outstanding players Danny Albertson, Bob Brashear, Mike Bottorff and Norman Kalkhoff.
