Pirates take 46-20 Homecoming win over rival Silver Creek PDF Print E-mail


The stands were overflowing on both sides of Dutch Reis Field last Friday night as the Pirates celebrated their 2014 Homecoming by hosting Mid Southern Conference rival Silver Creek.
The teams prepared all week for what both sides knew would be a great game. The Dragons and Pirates battled at The Bone Yard as Charlestown opened with a 21-0 advantage before Silver Creek  clawed back. The Dragons pulled within seven early in the last quarter before Charlestown’s Tate Boley returned a 75 yard punt for the momentum shift. The Pirates took the 46-20 Mid Southern Conference win to push their record to 4-1.

With a game looming this Friday against Charlestown, Silver Creek Head Coach Jason Hawkins wasn’t concerned about his team looking past the Eastern Musketeers last week.
‘We know we are not a dominant football team yet and have to come ready to play each and every week,” Hawkins said.

The Iron Order Motorcycle Club (New Washington Chapter) along with the help of Ryan and Pam Weber, hosted an Autism Awareness Ride and Auction on Saturday, September 6. The event benefited the special needs department of New Washington Elementary School.
