Charlestown Pirate Pride Booster Club hosts Hole in One Contest PDF Print E-mail

On a day fitted more for ice fishing than golf, 16 of the craziest golfers braved the elements on Tuesday, April 21, which included wind, rain and some sleet mixed in, to see who would hit a silly white ball into the cup for a “hole in one” on the par 3 160-yard number 3 green at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Sellersburg, for the grand prize of $50,000 that was up for grabs in the Charlestown Pirate Pride “Hole in One Contest.”
Sixteen participants qualified for the contest after spending at least $200 at the Second Annual Charlestown Pirate Pride Sports Recognition banquet and auction, which was held in the gym at Charlestown High School. All the proceeds from the event will go toward purchasing weight lifting equipment for the new weight room that will be a part of the new high school.
While some brave souls brushed aside the weather to hit the range in hopes of perfecting that special shot, others stayed warm and cozy by the fireplace inside the clubhouse before it was time for a chance at fame and glory.
After drawing for the order to hit, everyone loaded into golf carts and took off in search of the Holy Grail of Golf. Needless to say there was some good-natured ribbing before and after each participants shot, in the end there could only be one winner.
