The race committee for this year’s 3rd Annual Pirate Fun Run 5K & Kiddie Run is pleased to announce that the road race through Charlestown will be for the benefit of Glori Holmes. Holmes, who will begin her freshman year at Charlestown High School this fall, has been battling Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia since she being diagnosed in October of 2013. She has undergone 10 months of intense treatment that has included weekly/daily chemo infusions, multiple overnight stays at Kosair’s Children’s Hospital, several surgeries and weekly spinal taps. Thankfully, Holmes is now in the maintenance phase of her treatment, but she still requires several varied forms of chemotherapy. The net proceeds from this race will assist her family with medical bills.
