The Clark County 4-H Fair recently wrapped up this year’s fun-filled week of fair activities. During the fair week the election for the Board of Directors was held. Approximately 160 votes were cast from Wednesday evening, July 18 through 12 noon on Friday, July 20. The voters elected four new members to the Board. After the votes were tallied the Clark County 4-H Board of Directors welcomed Anthony “Tony” Barger, Ann Branstetter, Judy Popp and David Abbott, Sr.

Masonic scholarships awarded to local students PDF Print E-mail

Holly S. Jones, Bristol D. Frazier and Caroline E. Reis, all of Charlestown, were awarded $1,300 from the Masonic Scholarship Board of the Grand Lodge of Indiana, Free and Accepted Masons. Emily Shaw was awarded the Blazing Star scholarship.

New CHS Principal Mark Laughner feels a “Familiar Sense” about the Charlestown community and school he now leads PDF Print E-mail

Walking into the principal’s office at Charlestown High School, one is immediately struck with a dose of “Pirate Pride.” Earlier this month, the Greater Clark County School Board named Mark Laughner Charlestown High School’s new principal. Laughner comes to Charlestown by way of Jeffersonville’s Parkview Middle School, where he served seven years as principal. Laughner began his teaching career in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida as a social studies teacher, before stints teaching at Clarksville High School and an Assistant Principal position at Clarksville Middle.

The Charlestown Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the third annual awards program to recognize some of the excellent local businesses that have enjoyed significant success, make significant contributions to the community, or are new businesses that enjoy a bright future.
These categories of achievement will be recognized by the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce at the December 13 noon luncheon meeting at the Arts and Enrichment Center.
