CPD investigates school bus crash last Wednesday PDF Print E-mail

 

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, Charlestown Officers were dispatched to the 10000 block of S.R. 62 in reference to an injury accident involving a Greater Clark County School Bus. Preliminary investigation revealed that bus number 126 was traveling west on S.R. 62 and was either stopped or was in the process of coming to a stop at the marked Railroad Crossing when the driver of small passenger truck collided into the rear of the bus.

We’ve all been there, a wrong turn, a decision we wished we hadn’t made, a life lesson that sometimes is learned the hard way.  Many of us are fortunate enough to escape any major or life altering consequences, which is the only thing that separates us from most of the people who find themselves in prison.  One definition in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary for “sanctuary” is “a place of refuge and protection”.  That is exactly the purpose that Wendy Lewen had in mind when she and her family made some major changes in order to found such a place for women, The Sanctuary House.

CHS teacher hit by vehicle last Tuesday evening PDF Print E-mail

On the April 3 at approximately 6:51 p.m., officers from the Charlestown Police Department were dispatched to Park Street near Level Street in reference to an accident involving a pedestrian.  Officers arrived on scene approximately two minutes later and learned that 30 year old Nicole Keith-Morrison had been struck by a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, being driven by 30 year old Natalie Miller.

Pirate Pride All Sports Recognition Dinner & Auction to be held April 22 PDF Print E-mail

The fifth Annual Pirate Pride All Sports Recognition Dinner & Auction will be held on Sunday, April 22 in the Auxiliary Section of the CHS Sports Arena at Charlestown High School. The event, sponsored by the Charlestown Pirate Pride Booster Club, recognizes student athletes, coaches, staff and volunteers of all Charlestown High School sports, including the Marching Band of Pirates. Back by popular demand, the event will again be catered by the legendary Schnitzelbank Restaurant of Jasper. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and dinner will begin serving at 5:30 p.m. Don’t miss this opportunity to not only support Pirate Pride’s efforts in bolstering Pirate and Lady Pirate Athletics; but also help the community recognize all the outstanding high school student athletes in each sport. It’s a relaxing, enjoyable, family atmosphere event that hundreds regularly attend each year. This is the Pirate Pride anchor event fundraiser that allows for a great majority of the support Pirate Pride provides for the talented student athletes.
