?    Lt. Governor Becky Skillman recently awarded a $150,00 Rural Capacity Grant to the Southern Indiana Minority Enterprise Initiative, Inc. The award will fund an entrepreneurial support project which will contribute to the growth of six Indiana counties. The Southern Indiana Minority Enterprise Initiative is a not-for-profit advocacy organization with a mission to increase the number of minority-owned businesses in southern Indiana.

?Charlestown High School Theatre presents Johnny Brooke, A Ghost Story PDF Print E-mail

?    Get in the Halloween Spirit and prepare to ride an emotional roller coaster as the Charlestown High School Theatre Department brings a spine tingling performance of Johnny Brooke, A Ghost Story to their stage.
    Go into the story of Johnny, a 17 year old senior from 1965 who died in the garage at Brooke Manor over 40 years ago. Follow the family who now lives in the supposedly haunted house as they discover the many mysteries that lie within the home.
    Performances will be in the school’s auditorium on Thursday, October 23 at 7 p.m., Saturday, October 25 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 26 at 2 p.m.
    Doors open one hour before show times. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students/seniors and can be purchased at the door.

?    The Clark County Farm Bureau, Inc. will conduct a “Meet the Candidates” session on Tuesday, October 28, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Building at the Clark County 4-H Center (Highway 62 in Charlestown).
    Federal, state and county candidates for office in the upcoming fall election are being invited to participate in this event.
    The session is free of charge and the public is urged to attend. Those in attendance will be able to ask candidates questions from the floor or privately.
    Questions about this public session may be directed to Judy Popp, President of the Clark County Farm Bureau, Inc., at 812-256-5870.

?CBC and Mayor Hall teaming up to build a Christmas city PDF Print E-mail

?    The Charlestown Beautification Committee and Charlestown Mayor Bob Hall are working together to build a Christmas city. They need your help.
    This year light up Charlestown and the Christmas season will be very exciting as they unveil their 40 foot Christmas tree in the park.
    They are also making big changes on the square and around the city. They need volunteers to help make this happen.
    They need volunteers for the square, the A&E Center, Greenway Park and for the entrances coming into the city.
    Please join them on Tuesday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 28 at the Arts and Enrichment Center, 999 Water Street, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the plans and to get involved with helping them make Charlestown a “Christmas City.”
    They are also encouraging families, churches and businesses to begin planning your Christmas decorating.

?    United All-Star Cheerleading will host a Halloween Party and Haunted House fundraiser Saturday evening, October 25 from 6 to 9 p.m, at the Tumbletown Gym, located at 250 Harrison Street behind the North Clark Outreach Center.  
    Fun for all ages, games and prizes (.50 per game or unlimited game play for a $7 wristband), drinks and snacks (.50 to $1) including hotdogs, chips and popcorn; and the haunted house (admission $2 per visit).  
    Costumes are optional, but encouraged.  
    Moments Photography will be in attendance taking Halloween photos for packages ranging in price from $20 to $30.  
    Come join the fun and bring the kids for some seasonal good fun and entertainment.
