While most residents were enjoying a nice sunny Sunday afternoon many high school basketball fans were preparing for post season play. Local boys basketball teams, coaches and fans, were anxiously awaiting the 2016 Sectional draw.

Indiana Department of Transportation officials met with its prime contractor late last week at Seymour District offices to launch a $7.2 million project to repair and repave six miles of Interstate 64 in Floyd County between State Road 62/S.R. 64 and the Kentucky state line.  Work is scheduled to begin in early April.

A local pharmacy student has found a way to already impact the lives of others. Desiree Beard, 23, plans to graduate in the summer of 2018 with a Doctorate of Pharmacy, but she already has a plan to make a difference.

Rose Island Playhouse Community Theatre will hold auditions for Pat Cook’s hilarious comedy “YOU CAN’T GET THERE FROM HERE” on Saturday, January 30 form 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Charlestown Public Library, 51 Clark Road in Charlestown. If you are unable to attend auditions on Saturday, the director will be available on Monday, February 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Charlestown Arts & Enrichment Center, 999 Water Street in Charlestown. Auditions are cold readings from the script. Resumes and head shots are welcome but not required. Appointment is not necessary. The play will be directed by Rhoda Meier.

Clark Sheriff’s Office to offer firearms training PDF Print E-mail

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting three firearms information training sessions during the month of January. The curriculum that will be covered by firearms instructor Officer John Jawor will be firearm safety inside the residence, how to interact with Law Enforcement when carrying a firearm, how to apply for a concealed carry permit, and general firearm safety. They will also have a portion of the  training pertaining to Indiana Law concerning self defense, forcible felony, firearm possession, deadly force and the Castle Doctrine from Attorney Tom Lowe.
