Four men and a woman were taken into custody by Austin police and police reserve officers in a drug bust that took place Friday, January 7, on that city’s north side.
Detective/Major Lonnie Noble prepared the probable cause affidavits against suspects Hence E. Campbell, 36; Jessica Morgan, 29; Earl E. Sandlin, 36; and Ance E. Riley, 35, all of 875 Mann Avenue, and Jessica Morgan’s brother, Jeremy Morgan, 28, whose address was listed as 768 Mann Ave.

Clara Combs, the 78-year-old grandmother convicted of drug dealing on November 17 in a jury trial in Scott Circuit Court, was sentenced Tuesday, January 11, to ten years in prison.

Anyone visiting the Scott County Security Center in downtown Scottsburg knows immediately that changes are being made in the facility.
The smell of fresh paint is faint but persistent.
“We’ve been doing some painting in the cell areas, as well as repairs to walls,” advised Sheriff Dan McClain. Such maintenance was a part of the new administration’s initial efforts at the facility that houses both the jail and Sheriff’s Department headquarters as was a general clearing out of some stored items considered no longer needed.

Drivers suffer injuries in three recent vehicle accidents in county PDF Print E-mail

A unusual run of vehicular accidents in Scott County within less than a 24-hour period injured all of the drivers involved.
In each case, the vehicle overturned, officers who covered the mishaps for the Sheriff’s Department noted.
The first such accident occurred at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, about 600 feet west of the intersection of State Road 56 and Chipaway Drive west of Scottsburg.

Women charged with stealing items from Goodwill store in Scottsburg PDF Print E-mail

Two Scottsburg women suspected of stealing from the Goodwill BridgePointe Services Inc. store in Scottsburg now face eight charges in Scott Superior Court.
Janice F. Chandler, 49, and Samantha Mullins, 33, appeared at their initial court hearings on December 30 before Judge Nicholas South. Each has seven D Class felony charges of theft and a Class A misdemeanor charge of trespass filed against her.
