Another major milestone for the” Chelsea Jubilee”, this year marks its 150th anniversary this coming September 2nd and 3rd. The “Chelsea Jubilee” is Indiana’s Oldest Continues Festival, located in Chelsea Indiana, Hwy 62. To celebrate this historic occasion the association will be offering a limited quantity printed history book available with your membership.
The “Jubilee” represents many things to many people, a festival celebrating a successful Harvest, and a Community Reunion rolled into one. People return to Chelsea and the Saluda area this time of year from all over country to rekindle old friendships and share old memories. The “Jubilee” provides a place for family and friends to relax with music and entertainment. Browse the Arts and Crafts booths, play Corn Hole and enjoy the Antique Tractors Parade. Kids actually get paid to play games! Don’t eat before you get there! Four local Church groups and the Fire Department are on site. For many of these organizations, the Jubilee is their major fund-raising event of the year.
The “Chelsea Jubilee Park Association Inc.” continues its tradition set 41 years ago. When a handful of its members purchased 6 acres of land in Chelsea, made improvement and transformed the property into what’s known today as the Saluda Township Park. That property was deeded to Saluda Township to be used as a Township Park for the price of $1.00. The association continues to make improvements to the Park, this year with a new sign celebration the 150th anniversary. With additional donations from the local Churches and individuals plans are in place to extend the water system on the west side of the Park.
The Community invites you to bring your lawn chair and join with us in celebrating this historic occasion.
