Deam Lake Hosts 5th Annual Polar Plunge – Raises $65,000 plus PDF Print E-mail

While temperatures Saturday morning were reasonably warm, the water temperature at Deam Lake in Borden, Indiana was a chilly 41° as 362 participants got set to take the “Freezin’ For A Reason” Polar Plunge to Benefit Special Olympics Indiana Area 2.  The pre-event consisted of a costume contest and the event was opened by Jenna Daniel of Charlestown Middle School signing the national anthem and Susan Wheatley of Sacred Heart Church giving the opening prayer to bless the participants as well as the Special Olympics athletes.

In the afternoon hours of Thursday February 16th,   officers from the F.B.I. Safe Streets Task Force, Kentucky State Police, U. S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, (Great Lakes Region), and the U.S. Marshal’s Service, (Louisville, Kentucky Office), arrested Ronald F. Graham, 38, from New Albany, IN.  He was arrested after a foot chase in Meade County, Kentucky. Ronald F. Graham had been able to elude law enforcement officers at least six times in the past few months.

Congratulations are in order for Floyd Central High School’s Dazzlers who came back from the Universal Dance Association’s 2012 National Dance Team Championship with the championship title in pom. This year’s win was extra special for the ladies, as it marked their 10th consecutive win in the category since 2003. The Dazzlers also brought home the championship title in the hip-hop category this year, a first for the group.

Sherman Minton Bridge re-opens PDF Print E-mail

Effective immediately, the I-64 Sherman Minton Bridge over the Ohio River between Southern Indiana and Louisville have been reopened to traffic. Motorists should stay alert when driving through the area as other drivers get accustomed to the new traffic pattern.
