This was an awesome weekend for the Cougar Harriers of North Harrison. A HUGE COUGAR CONGRATULATIONS goes out to Ashton Bosler and Natalie Hollensead and the North Harrison Cross Country Boy’s Team who made school history again this past Saturday by winning the school’s second consecutive Semi-State Championship! In the Girls’ Semi-State race, Ashton Bosler had another great performance and will advance to the State Championship Meet next Saturday. The top six teams and the first 15 overall individuals advance from each of the 4 Semi-States to the Indiana State Championship Meet in Terre Haute. In a field of Southern Indiana’s best 160 runners, Ashton ran an excellent race and finished in 7th place overall with her second best time of the season at 19:04. Natalie Hollensead also ran a great race and finished in 59th place overall and had a PR time of 20:52. Congratulations again to both Ashton and Natalie who represented NH so well this past weekend. Ashton will run in the 2nd race of the State Meet starting at 1:45 p.m. after the boys’ race at 1:00 p.m. Make plans to come out and support Ashton as she continues her quest to be one of the top runners in the State of Indiana.
The Floyd Central Highlander Band and Guard competed in the ISSMA Semi-State Marching Band Competition at Pike Central High School last Saturday. They earned a spot in the ISSMA Marching Band State Finals this Saturday, October 29 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Class B performances begin at 1:15 p.m. Floyd Central will perform at 3:12 p.m. Tickets to the State Finals are $20 for adults and $18 for students and preschoolers over 2 years of age. Borden wins Class A volleyball sectional title at New Washington
Borden won the Class A volleyball sectional title Saturday night after winning a 25-16, 25-18, 25-16 victory over Christian Academy Indiana. “It was a quick match,’ said Borden coach D J Zipp. “I was surprised.”
Highlanders advance in football sectional, defeat Jeff
The Floyd Central Highlanders won their first round game in the Class 5A sectional in football Friday at Jeffersonville 47-20, and Kyle Bramble scored six touchdowns in the win. Bramble had 225 yards on the night. The win gives the Highlanders (9-1) a date with host Bedford-North Lawrence this Friday.
