The investigation into the death of 16-year-old Nathan Stidham came to a close Monday morning.

Washington County Coroner Rondale Brishaber ruled the death a susicide by a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

Authorities were called to Stidham's home in the morning hours of Aug. 18.

Brishaber has ruled the time of death of 8:06 a.m.

Rally for suspended Borden principal doesn't change things according to superintendent PDF Print E-mail

Tuesday night approximately 150 people attended a rally for Borden High School Principal Lisa Nale, who is currently serving a 90-day suspension that was part of an addendum to her contract.

The addendum is the result of an incident that happened in mid-June when Nale was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and eventually arrested.

Lisa Nale will keep her job as principal at Borden PDF Print E-mail

Borden Junior/Senior High School Principal Lisa Nale was retained for that position last night (Thursday, Aug. 12) during the West Clark School Board's regular meeting.

Nale's future as a West Clark employee was in doubt following an incident on June 24 where witness called police and reported the vehicle she was driving was swerving on Highway 60.

Enjoying the dog days of summer sitting by the swimming pool and having a bar-b-q, nothing gets much better than that. It takes chemicals to keep your pool nice and refreshing all summer long. When your summer enjoyment is over and it is time to get the pool ready for the off season remember that those same chemical can wreak havoc on our environment. Prior to closing your pool you have to make sure that your water is chemically balanced.  To do that you have to sometimes add chlorine, antifreeze, and or dry acid before you can close your pool down. Are you one of the people that just run a hose to the nearest storm drain? Do you release that pool water over a period of time or all within an hour or so? The Floyd County and New Albany Stormwater Department would like to share some helpful tips that you can apply this fall when you are getting ready to shut the pool down for the season.

Horseshoe Foundation offering grants seminar PDF Print E-mail

Charitable organizations which serve Floyd County and are interested in learning more about the Horseshoe Foundation grant application process are invited to attend one of two grants seminars being offered.  The first opportunity is Tuesday, August 24th from 11:30am to 1:00pm (Brown bag lunches are welcome.)  It will be held in the Scribner Place YMCA in the first floor multipurpose room at 33 State Street, New Albany.   The second opportunity is Thursday, August 26th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.  Thursday’s meeting will be held in the Scribner Place YMCA in the third floor board
